Background

Sophie Labonnote-Weber graduated with MSc in Aeronautical Engineering from ISAE, former ENSICA, one of the most prestigious Engineering Schools in France, after an exchange year in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium and in Palmerston North, New Zealand to specialize in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science (polymer and composite). Additionally, Labonnote-Weber holds a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering (ceramics) from NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology) in Trondheim, Norway.

Research area

Labonnote-Weber is a Senior Researcher with a strong passion for space, and Research Manager for Technology Development for life science research in microgravity. Thriving on challenges, and curious about everything that (may) drive the world forward, especially beyond Earth.

She has experienced the research industry working as a research manager and temporary CEO in a start-up producing ceramic oxide powders for new sustainable energy solutions. She is now back, since 2019, to the most exciting research topics: Space and technology, by working at CIRiS on hardware development for the International Space Station.

Looking for opportunities and partners to develop and test technologies for life science applications on the Moon. Excited about the perspective to capitalize generated knowledge for in-situ resource utilization. Enjoys playing in CIRiS laboratories with 3D printers, VR/AR… when time allows! Can never learn and share enough about space and technology, so feel free to send an email!
